There seems to be an increasing concern regarding hospital capacity. What is the plan?-ED

Alyson Cole
Associate Executive Director, PPMC
PPMC anticipates an increase of 2068 admissions with the transition of the Trauma Service, Orthopaedic Trauma Services, establishment of an elective Neurosurgical Service, and the transition of all other Trauma patients to other medical and surgical subspecialties. The Emergency Department anticipates an additional 6850 visits. PPMC expects to be able to accommodate this additional volume through the additional construction of 16 new acute care beds, a new location of the observation unit, enhanced bed management, a new Rapid Assessment and Treatment Area in the Emergency Department in addition to the newly expanded emergency department to increase the total compliment of private exam rooms to 30 rooms.
